Watershed Moment Communication provided document planning and design for Aqua-Tex Scientific Consulting and the Comox Regional District for the Comox Lake Watershed Protection Plan. The document has extensive hyperlinked page navigation, table of contents, linked endnotes and cross-references in tables – putting the capabilities of Adobe InDesign through its paces. The WordsFlow plugin was used to manage client changes.

Watershed Moment was brought in early at the document planning stage to recommend a format that would work for both print and online usability. A horizontal landscape format was selected to allow the document to be used for large screen presentation, desktop monitor display and table-formatted text.
A document navigation bar at the top of every page allows easy jumps to key sections of the document and back to the table of contents.

We needed to present very technical information in an understandable, attractive way that would connect with local residents. Soren took our text and graphics, added some of his own creation (which were great) and set up the file as both a printed book and a clickable PDF. The watershed protection plan is in its third printing and is available on the local government website. The plan has been read by many people, including local politicians who don’t have much time to read plans such as these, and the plan is getting great traction. Many of the recommendations are already implemented and there are more on the way. Soren is very knowledgeable and patient. He has great ideas for communicating ideas and is a pleasure to work with.
